No approved analytical method is allowed and results will state that the sample is considered asbestos containing. Also, New York asbestos regulations state that non-detect or trace results in Non-Friable Organically Bound (NOB) materials (i.e. adhesives, mastics, and floor tiles) are inconclusive since PLM visual estimation is not consistently reliable in detecting asbestos. TEM is currently the only method that can be used to determine if NOB material can be treated as non-asbestos containing. The state of New York requires that such NOB samples are prepped using a process that adds an additional 8 hours to the analysis. Due to this any samples of this type sent in for a same day turnaround time, will be reported by noon EST the following business day.
